My Powers Are Weakening

Late last night, having downed two 750l bottles of Leffe, I was tired and ready for bed. I therefore stayed up and had another, just because it was there. On a relatively empty stomach.
And now, of course, I feel wretched.
I turn 48 in a couple of weeks.
When, exactly, will I learn?

Don't judge me!

Condi Rice's Fright Night

As though the implosion of Iraq is not scary enough, Iran is declared to be America's biggest threat.
Just wait until she discovers what the economic power of China is about to do.
Does this stuff really wash, or has the Iraq debacle shaken up enough people to ward off any real threat from the neo-cons towards any ideas of invasion?
Surely we're witnessing the slow, toxic, decline of the Bush camp's influence, even if any solution to their failure is difficult to conceive.
Maybe the slow, toxic, decline of America is more advanced than anyone wants to admit, and maybe we should all brace ourselves for the shit that they'll inevitably drag us into.

Viral Celebrity

So the stupid cow who was caught on camera applying make up whilst driving has made it onto the front of the papers. She's even been given the opportunity to sell herself as "a part-time model", and a scatty blonde at that. Enough, therefore, to be marketed as the next pointless non-entity to rattle round the celebrity circus.
Was this what the speed cameras were intended for?

Plimsoll town in the rain

Nothing to back it up, just like the sound of it.

Tara Liverpool, and good riddance.

Chelsea out: something to cheer about.

How refreshing to hear of Chelsea's demise from this year's Champion's League. Yet how sad that it is no longer possible really support English clubs in Europe any more. No more Forest. No more Villa. So long Liverpool.
There was a time when I even cheered on the wretched Arsenal as they outwitted a smug, defensive Juventas in a Cup Winners Cup semi-final, just because it was important to see English sides do well abroad.
But they were English sides back then—well, British; Liverpool under Dalglish had an aversion to English players, but at least they were the usual mix of Celts & Colonials—and there was an sense of identification as they took our style of play (however "physical" and full of "stamina") to Johnny Foreigner.
But now, who cares? At the Real Madrid v. Arsenal last week, Real fielded the only two British players, as Arsenal abandoned any pretence of Britishness yonks ago. Ditto Chelsea, Ditto Liverpool.
Add the obscene money these pampered gobshites generate, and the cheating they've imported into the game, there's no real reason to watch anymore.
And Chelsea really are the worst, most rotten of the bunch. Too rich, with dirty money, and too willing to curl a surly lip at any kind of criticism.
And as long as John Terry is willing to condone his team mates' cheating by haranguing anyone who dares complain, Chelsea will deservedly remain the footballing pariah they've made themselves into.
Fuck off Chelsea; I'm glad you lost.

Eggs Logs

Look, until I get to figure out how to do a real web-site, this will have to do.

Now I just have to think of something to say.
